What to Expect from Your First Class
Starting a new activity can feel intimidating, and even returning after a break can seem like a challenge. If you’d like to try a class, please feel free to contact us.
We ask that you arrive about 15 minutes before the start time so we can answer any questions you may have and help you get settled.
For your first class, please wear comfortable workout clothing. Class begins with a warm-up that includes stretches and movement to prepare you for training.
An instructor or senior student will work with you one-on-one to introduce basic stances, blocks, kicks, and strikes. After that, you’ll have the opportunity to join in some partner work and then be introduced to your first basic form (kata).
At the end of class, we can chat about how you found the experience and whether you’d like to continue.
Remember, Karate takes time to learn. Be patient with yourself—everyone in the dojo was once a beginner attending their very first class.
